| CENTRAL KALAHARI GAME RESERVE |
|
The Kalahari is a vast semi-desert, the largest sand basin in the world, stretching 2,500km across seven countries: Congo (DRC), Angola, Zambia, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and South Africa. It covers 80% of the land surface of Botswana. The Kalahari is an isolated place and offers unprecedented solitude under seemingly endless African skies. The San people (Bushmen) are remarkable inhabitants of this remote destination. You can also experience their ways of life when staying at some lodges based in various parts of the Kalahari. The best time to visit is most certainly during the rainy season that is expected to fall on northern CKGR between November and March, change in vegetation attracts thousands of springbok and gemsbok, and you’ll also find good numbers of ostrich and giraffe, herds of wildebeest, excellent cheetah and the Kalahari’s famous black-maned lions. But a visit at any time of the year is most rewarding in this incredibly beautiful reserve. |
