It is known for Twyfelfontein, rock engravings from Bushman; The Brandberg which is Namibia highest massif and home to the famous “White Lady” Bushman Painting. Discovered the Petrified Forest, it is millions of years old and Spitzkoppe which is the most well-known mountain in Namibia due to its striking outlines and mystery surrounding this place. The Brandberg and Spitzkoppe are two favorite places for climbers in Namibia. Despite the harsh desert conditions, Damaraland is home to many desert-adapted species, including giraffe, zebra, lion, elephant and rhino. Stargazing is "par excellence" with crystal-clear night skies. May to December are the best months to visit this region. |
