The Garden Route is South Africa's most popular self drive destination.

Extending from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth, The Garden Route is a very scenic area; from the deserts of the Karoo, to pretty seaside towns and white sandy beaches. It makes the ideal destination for just about anyone.

At the heart of the Garden Route is Knysna. The Coastal Route runs from Mossel Bay to Port Elizabeth and is the most traditional of the Garden Route journeys. From Port Elizabeth travellers often enjoy a Malaria Free Garden Route Safari in the Eastern Cape.

The Eastern Cape is where the Garden Route ends. In 1930 the Addo Elephant Park was established to protect the last 11 animals in the area. Today Addo has been re-established and is home to large herds of elephant. Since 1980 farms in the vicinity have slowly been purchased and restocked with wildlife.
