SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

World Heritage site, Serengeti National Park is 14,763 sq km in size, attracts large numbers of tourists all over the world.  The Serengeti ecosystem is one of the oldest on earth.  The park is teaming with magnificent wildlife - it is thought that over 3 million large mammals roam the plains.

It is renowned for the annual wildebeest migration and it is arguably the most spectacular natural event in Africa.
Over 1 million wildebeest, 300,000 Thomson’s gazelle  and about 200,000 zebras flow south from the northern hills to the southern plains for the short rains every October and November, and then swirl west and north after the long rains in April, May and June. The Serengeti migration is the greatest lawnmower in history.

Yet even when the migration is quiet, the park offers amazing game-viewing in Africa: great herds of buffalo, groups of elephant and giraffe, and thousands upon thousands of eland, topi, kongoni, impala and Grant's gazelle.
You will also find significant populations of buffaloes, hippopotamuses and hyenas.

December to July is the appropriate time to experience the wildebeest migration and June to October to see predators. Hot air balloon safaris, Maasai rock paintings and musical rocks are activities available to Serengeti National Park.
